Málaga, Spain — The 5GVEC initiative, which launched in late 2022, has reached a significant milestone with the commencement of real-world testing of 5G-enabled solutions for connected autonomous vehicles in Málaga. This represents a major step forward in the project's mission to develop and validate 5G technology for next-generation smart mobility applications.

Led by multinational safety organization DEKRA, the 5GVEC consortium brings together a diverse group of technology and telecommunications specialists:

According to University of Málaga representatives, "this automated electric vehicle can be remotely controlled using systems that replicate manual driving, allowing for remote management" of steering, pedals, and gear shifting.
